I have been test fitting the various components of my first SumoBot. It’s so far fairly close to the weight limit: about 450 grams of 500 allowed. Below are some pictures of the barebones bot:

It looks like a cardboard box with the Masonite side cladding on, so I thought I would call it “SumoBox.” The distance sensor is a Parallax Ping))) ultrasonic range finder and the bot uses analog line sensors from Sparkfun.

Hot glue holds the motors to the chassis and the Ping))) to its aluminium bracket. 4-40 Aluminium PC board standoffs hold the line sensors in place below the robot. The bot is front-wheel drive.
